Yourself, or a plumber?
For a standard tank-fed setup, plumbing the pump into your pipework is within reach of a confident DIYer. The electrical connection must be made by a licensed electrician and be RCD-protected. Any connection to the town mains is regulated by your water authority and needs a licensed plumber.
Where to install it
House the pump in a waterproof, frost-free, well-ventilated space on a firm base. Fit isolation valves for servicing; for a below-ground source use a foot valve at least 500 mm below the minimum water level.
Priming and first start
Fill the pump casing and suction line with water through the priming port before the first start. Never run the pump dry. Power on, open the furthest tap, and let it run until water runs clear.
Boosting mains (town) water
Direct mains boosting isn't permitted everywhere in Australia and the rules vary by water authority. A break tank is the universally-accepted setup. Check what's required in your area and have a licensed plumber confirm the right configuration.
